Roadmap

Lombok is actively evolving to provide more powerful self-hosting capabilities. This roadmap outlines where we’re heading with platform features, first-party apps, and the broader third-party ecosystem.

Throughout this roadmap, you’ll see three status levels:

  • Completed - Feature is available in the current release
  • In Progress - Currently being developed
  • Planned - On the roadmap but development hasn’t started

Core improvements to the Lombok platform itself:

FeatureStatusDescription
Worker/serverless scriptsCompletedRun TypeScript functions on events and schedules
App PlatformCompletedBuild and deploy TypeScript apps with UI integration
Automatic backup/redundancyIn ProgressAutomated backup to multiple storage providers
Advanced access controlsPlannedGranular permissions and sharing capabilities
Offline-first syncPlannedBetter offline support for mobile clients

We’re building automated backup features to sync your data across multiple storage providers for redundancy. This will include configurable backup schedules, cross-provider replication, and automated failover to ensure your data remains accessible even if a single storage backend goes down.

Official applications built on the Lombok App Platform to showcase its capabilities:

  • Calendar app - Planned
  • Media player app - Planned
  • Notes app - Planned

These first-party apps serve two purposes: providing useful functionality out of the box, and demonstrating best practices for building on the App Platform. Once launched, their source code will be available as reference implementations for third-party developers.

Building a community ecosystem around Lombok apps:

  • App directory/store - Planned
  • Developer program - Planned

The third-party app ecosystem will enable developers to build and distribute apps that extend Lombok’s functionality. The app directory will make it easy for users to discover and install community-created apps, while the developer program will provide documentation, tools, and support for app creators.

Lombok’s roadmap is influenced by the community. Your feedback, contributions, and discussions help shape what we build next.
